CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIAN MUSIC

WHEREAS, the Word of God establishes that psalms, hymns and spiritual songs are to be used by the Church to offer praise to Almighty God, and not for the pleasure of man, and, WHEREAS, the music of any culture is an expression of its spiritual values, and, WHEREAS, rock-and-roll and the other popular music is not ideologically neutral, but is an artistic expression of values that are contrary to the Word of God, and, WHEREAS, evangelical and fundamental christians have to varying degrees adopted these contrary and wicked musical styles for use in worship, and, WHEREAS, those musicians producing this music are in many cases entertainers whose performances are more recreational than spiritual and whose testimonies are discredited by their conformity to this world and its values, BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that we reject and denounce that religious music commonly referred to as "contemporary christian music" and do call upon true Christians to faithfully worship God by using psalms, hymns and spiritual songs whose musical style and values are consistent with historical biblical Christianity and its standards of holiness and separation from all that defiles and is contrary to the Word of God.
