THE BLOOD ATONEMENT

Whereas the Word of God speaks clearly and unequivocably about the shed blood of Christ and the sprinkling of the blood of Christ,

Whereas the Roman Catholic Church speaks of an unbloody sacrifice, the mass, the cults deny the shedding of the blood of Christ as efficacious, the liberal theologians call the teaching of the blood atonement a slaughterhouse religion,

Whereas those who some regard as religious leaders, such as John McArthur and R.B. Thieme, deny that the blood of Christ is actual, and teach that it is only symbolic and refers only to his death,

Be it resolved that the delegates of the Evangelical Methodist Church proclaim the blood of Christ as real, actual, and is continually cleansing men from all sin. That the Bible teaches that the blood of Christ is sprinkled by faith upon our conscience and that we are cleansed from dead works to serve the true and living God through the blood of the everlasting covenant. (Col. 1:20, I John 1:7, Rev. 5:9, 12:11)
